DISCUSSION WITH STUDENTS

The start of the seminar was preceded for the first time by a dialogue session between a large group of British journalists in Venice and some of the most qualified international relations students from the host university. During the meeting, chaired by the Vice Chancellor Tiziana Lippiello, students asked reporters questions on current issues relating to the many changes taking place in the international geopolitical scenario. Journalists attended the usual cultural programme on the side-lines of the seminar, which this year included viewing Tannhauser by Richard Wagner at La Fenice Theatre, guests of La Fenice Foundation. The second cultural event was a guided tour of the Peggy Guggenheim Museum, preceded by a private meeting with the director Philip Rylands who explained the history of the museum and about the American collector. The seminar in Venice was made possible by sponsors Eni, Intesa Sanpaolo and Leonardo. In addition, Trenitalia which has recently entered the UK market with a holding company based in London, sponsored the traditional gala dinner first time.
