February 7, 2017) Antonio Tabucchi will be at the center of this month’s appointment with “The Magic Box”, scheduled for Tuesday, February 14 (6.30 PM) at the Hall of the Italian Institute of Culture in Valletta, Malta. “Tabucchi and Music” will be a conversation with professor Gioia Pace, President of Società Dante Alighieri, Siracusa branch, and Dr. Karl Chircop, a lecturer of Italian at Junior College. Gioia Pace will present two of her essays, both published by Carlo Morrone, Tabucchi dopo Tabucchi (2015), and La ricerca di una logica nel postmoderno. Tabucchi e la categoria della memoria(2014), for the latter she was awarded the Capit-Roma Special Prize for non-fiction.

Antonio Tabucchi (1943 - 2012), Italian writer and academic, lecturer of Portuguese language and literature at the University of Siena, is considered the most significant Italian novelist after Italo Calvino and the greatest connoisseur, critic and translator of Fernando Pessoa. From 1985 to 1987 he directed the Italian Institute of Culture in Lisbon.
