High Accuracy navigation, Ingv joins the Treasure project

(February 9, 2017) Developing models and algorithms for a better high accuracy positioning, through the integration of global navigation satellite system (GNSS), and creating a know how to be used in both industry and university. This is the aim of Treasure, (Training, Research and Applications network to Support the Ultimate Real time high accuracy Egnss solution), an EU funded project under the H2020-Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network and coordinated by the University of Nottingham. The Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV) is one of the partners. Treasure aims to provide instantaneous and high accuracy positioning anywhere in the world, exploiting the different satellite systems, as Gps, Glonass and the soon-to-be Galileo European System. "This type of services - explains Lucilla Alfonsi, INGV researcher and Dissemination Manager of the project - is of great interest not only for industries that deal with security systems, such as assistance to air/maritime navigation, but also for companies who develop services and applications for high accuracy positioning. In addition, the project is applicable for the exploitation of natural resources, for dredging, for agricultural support and assistance to self-driving cars and drones ". (Red)
