Discovering the most important masks of the Italian Carnival

(15 February 2017) Eva Spagna divides her time between music and theatre and will be at the Italian Cultural Institute of Berlin for a special event dedicated to Italian carnival. The event is geared towards a younger audience, and will be entirely in Italian. It will be an opportunity for kids to learn about Italy’s most famous carnival characters: from Pulcinella to Colombina, Pantalone, Gianduia and the unmissable Arlecchino: “Which city does Balanzone come from? And what does Arlecchino do? We will answer these and many more questions, entering the fascinating world of masks from the Commedia dell’Arte” according to the ICI. Theatre, tradition, and festivities: children will learn where in Italy, the famous carnival masks come from, what are their profession and their characteristics. (red)


EVA SPAGNA

 

Eva Spagna, from Florence, after a career in dance, she graduated with a degree in Art History in 1995 and then moved to Berlin where she followed her passion. Along with her Berlin band “…e la luna?” (…and the moon?) (Holger Schliestedt on guitar; Martin Klenk, cello and sax); Eva has arranged and interpreted famous songs and compositions in a fun and original way. She worked with jazz musicians by the likes of Giorgio Crobu, Robin Draganich, Manfred Dierkes, Christian von der Goltz, Thorsten Zwingenberger in various formations.
