The Italian Film Festival in Scotland pays a tribute to Scola

(21 February 2017) The two-week Italian Film Festival (3 – 16 March) reached its 24th edition this year. It consists of the screening of 12 different films and this year pays tribute to an icon of cinema. The contemporary Italian film festival will be held at Edinburgh Filmhouse, Glasgow Film Theatre, Dundee Contemporary Arts, Aberdeen Belmont Filmhouse, and Inverness Eden Court. The festival will pay tribute to Ettore Scola by screening three of his films: “La più bella serata della mia vita” (The Most Wonderful Evening of My Life) (1972), “Brutti, sporchi e cattivi” (Ugly, Dirty, and Bad) (1976), and “Una giornata particolare” (A Special Day) (1977). The Italian Film Festival is co-directed by Allan Hunter and Richard Mowe and staged with the Italian Cultural Institute of Edinburgh, the Italian Consulate, Creative Scotland, Sarti Restaurant in Glasgow, Zucca of Edinburgh, and Cinecittà Luce. Twelve films in total will be screened  in the following order: “7 Minuti” (7 Minutes) by Michele Placido, “Fai bei Sogni” (Sweet Dreams) by Marco Bellocchio, “Fiore” by Claudio Giovannesi, “Indivisibili” (Indivisible) by Edoardo De Angelis, “La Macchinazione” by David Grieco, “La Pazza Gioia” (Like Crazy) by Paolo Virzì, “La Ragazza del Mondo” (Worldly Girl) by Marco Danieli, “Orecchie” (Ears) by Alessandro Aronadio, “Pericle il Nero” (Pericle) by Stefano Mordini, “Un Bacio” (One Kiss) by Ivan Cotroneo, “Veloce come il Vento” (Italian Race) by Matteo Rovere and the documentary film “S is for Stanley” by Alex Infascelli.
