Music, South African tour for flutist Raffaele Trevisani

(February 28, 2017) South African Tour of the renowned Italian flutist Raffaele Trevisani, organized with the support of Italian Institute of Culture in Pretoria. From March 3 to 13 Trevisani will perform in different cities and with a varied repertoire, both solo and accompanied by pianist Paola Girardi and other South African musicians, in addition to some master classes. Even before graduating from the Conservatory "G. Verdi" in Milan, Trevisani becomes "the young student" of M. Sir James Galway studying privately with him since 1978. After graduation he works for four years with the Orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala Milan, before devoting himself entirely to solo career. He lives in Milan devoted to concerts and teaching at the Municipal School of Music "Claudio Abbado" of his city. His solo career has taken him to perform in Japan, USA, Canada, South America, Russia, South Africa, England, Spain, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Turkey, Israel as well as in Italy for major musical institutions. He has performed in many prestigious concert halls in Italy, including the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, and abroad (London's Wigmore Hall, Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Trinity Church in New York and many others). He has developed numerous collaborations (including The Musical Afternoons of Milan, I Cameristi della Scala and the Moscow Chamber Orchestra), recordings for Italian and foreign television stations, as well as having recorded for various international labels (Delos, Stradivarius, AS Disc and Hanssler Classic). ABOUT / EVENTS

Here is the tour program:

• "Khachaturian Concert Flute": March 3 at 20 at the Endler Hall, Stellenbosch within Woordfees 2017. The Symphony Orchestra of the University of Stellenbosch, led by Corvin Matei, will accompany Trevisani in the execution of Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 2.
• "Flute and piano recital": March 6 at 18 at the Endler Hall, Stellenbosch, within Woordfees 2017. Trevisani will be accompanied by pianist Paola Girardi. The program includes pieces by Corelli, Briccialdi-Verdi, Rossini-Morlacchi, Poulenc and Dvorak.
• Masterclass: March 7 and 8 from 9 to 18 at the Hugo Lambrechts Auditorium in Cape Town.
• "Italian Flute Artistry": March 8 at 19 at the Hugo Lambrechts Auditorium in Cape Town. Trevisani will perform with Myles Roberts, accompanied by the Italian pianist Paola Girardi and with the participation of the choir directed by Bridget Rennie-Salonen.
• "Classical Music Concert": March 11 at 19 at La Motte Historic Cellar, La Motte Wine Estate, Franschhoek. Trevisani will be accompanied by Paola Girardi.
• "Flute and piano concert": March 12 at 16 at the Enoch Sontonga Hall, UNISA, Pretoria. Mo. Trevisani will be accompanied by Paola Girardi.
• Masterclass: March 13 from 9 to 18:30 at the Kingsmead College Johannesburg.
