(15 March 2017) The conference “The New York Literature of European Migrants, 1880-1940” takes place on March 28 at 18:30 at the Casa Italiana Zerilli Marimò of the New York University. Professor Martino Marazzi of the University of Milan will be presenting his recent research, part of his upcoming book titled “The History of New York City Literature” (Cambrdige University Press). The aim of his book is to offer a new perspective on New York literature by examining its global connections. Marazzi describes a multilingual and multi-form literature produced by the Yiddish, German, Polish, and Greek communities during the mass exodus from Europe (in English as well as their respective languages). It is a testament to the growth of a peculariar form of modern subjectivity infused with raw realism. (Red)
