Winter Games 2017

(29 March 2017) This year’s traditional ‘Winter Games’ took place in Switzerland. The race for amateur skiers and snowboarders took place in Elm, in the municipality of Glarus. It lies between the Vorab glacier and the peaks of Sardona, Hausstock, and Kärpf. This year, as noted in a press COMITES Zurich, was the fourteenth edition of the sporting event. The winter games are more than a competition – they are a real Italian celebration in the snow. On Sunday, March 12, 170 skiers and snowboarders of all ages joined the race. From the youngest (age 4) to the oldest (70+) all have tested their muscles and concentration to cope with the doors of Ämpächli ski track as quickly as possible. "A path suitable for every ski level" explains COMITES underlining this year’s appearances: the presidents of COMITES and CONI, and the Consul General of Italy in Zurich, Giulio Alaimo. (Red)

THE CLUBS

The clubs that organised the ski race in Switzerland are: Gaiw (Italian Winterthur Mountaineering Group), Cesiu (Club Escursionistico Italiano Uster), Gaiz (Italian Zurich Mountaineering Group) Cas (Club Amici Sportivi), Scia (Affoltern a. Albis Italian Ski Club). These ski clubs were able to inspire 450 new students in having a passion for mountain sports. Their snow activities will resume in January 2018.
