The Italian Charitable Society celebrates spring

(March 30, 2017) Madrid welcomes the new season with the Italian Charitable Society which organizes the Spring Festival, a charity event whose proceeds will be allocated to support the many activities of Bb. The event is scheduled for April 1 at 21.00 in the halls of the Consular Office of the Italian Embassy (Calle Agustin de Betancourt, 3 - Madrid), which gave its support to the initiative. The evening will offer DJ music, tasting of Italian products and dances. The Italian Charitable Society, founded in 1891, is a not-for-profit organization, recognized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which operates throughout the Spanish territory. The areas in which it operates are social, economic and health: the Italian Charitable Society is dedicated to the support of the Italians who are in difficult situations or are in need of specific and imminent aid. CARD / THE OBJECTIVES OF SIB

The Italian Charitable Society operates mainly in social, economic and health contexts concerning the Italian community. The main objectives can be summarized as:

1) basic necessities assistance: Payment of expenses related to school meals for children; integration of the elderly pension; or payment of utilities (electricity and gas); general interventions for everyday problems.

2) Health care: measures designed to cover the high costs of medical treatments or surgeries, as well as purchase of prostheses or equipment to patients.

3) Help to prisoners: small cash donations, purchase of phone cards, supply of clothing, books and newspapers in Italian to compatriots serving sentences in Spanish prisons.

 

4) Education Assistance: purchase of school supplies and textbooks for pupils from poor families.

 

5) Support for the return to the country of origin: cases of repatriation and buying tickets for tourists who have been robbed and then have no money for a new return ticket.

 

6) Home health care

 

The objectives are achieved thanks to the work offered by volunteers, the funds collected from members' interests and activities that develop during the year as the Christmas Market.
