From wine to tourism, desire of Italy in China

(March 31, 2017) General Consulate in Chongqing participated these days at two events to promote Italian System: the International Tourism Fair in Chongqing, where were presented Peninsula's touristic sights, and the Chengdu Wine and Spirits Fair during which the Italian Pavilion has presented more than ten wine estates and importers of Italian wine products. The meeting dedicated to tourism, took place on March 24 to 26 in Chongqing. The Fair - to which Italy has returned to participate with a national pavilion - was held simultaneously in the trendy districts of Jiefangbei, Nanping and Guanyinqiao. Made in Italy 's tourism was represented by Italian General Consulate in Chongqing who, along with Visametric and Itatour Travel Agency, was responsible for the distribution of contents on the Peninsula to all interested visitors, including information on visas and flights to the Belpaese.
On March 23 an 25, Chengdu hosted the 96th edition of China Food and Drinks Fair, unmissable trade fair dedicated in part to wine and spirits. The General Consulate of Italy in Chongqing is back to Chengdu Fair for the fourth time, with an exceptional pavilion: an area of 180sqm with over 11 wine estates, which brought in Chengdu several dozen of Italian wineries. ABOUT / WINE, ITALY FIRST IN EXPORT


According to Wine Observatory data, elaborated on Istat base by Ismea, Italy in 2016 it has been confirmed as the first exporter of wine, for a record value of 5.6 billion euros, with an increase of 4.3% from 2015. Sparkling wines are confirmed protagonists of Italian success with sales of 1.2 billion euros (+ 21.4%) and a volume of 3.35 million hectoliters. Prosecco is the most popular wine, with an increase of 23.9% in exported volume and an increase of 32.3% in value (885 million euros).
