ABOUT / DEDIKA

"The culture of each country exists thanks to the women and men who know how to pass and renew the tradition. Pivot points of collective experiences and sensitive witnesses of their time, these figures refer to landscapes dense with meaning, to historical constellations, in relations with other cultures. With DediKa project - explains Luigi Reitani, director of the Berlin Italian Institute of Culture - the IIC intends to offer each year an organic cycle of initiatives around an emblematic figure of contemporary Italian culture". "In 2017 the first protagonist - emphasizes Reitani - will be Claudio Magris, certainly among the major voices of Italian and European literature, known in Germany not only for his work, widely translated, but also for his social commitment and already awarded prestigious honors . His works - in dynamic equilibrium between non-fiction and fiction - arise from want and need to understand our world, perhaps helping us to cope with its complexity. "
