 “Fai bei sogni” and “In guerra per amore” at the 10th Italian Film Festival

(5 April, 2017) Cinema is synonymous with ‘art’, ‘emotion’, ‘wonder’ and it also means ‘film festival’ like the one taking place in Lisbon until April 13th “Italian Film Festival in Portugal” - the biggest festival dedicated to Italian cinema has reached its 10th edition. It is organised by ‘Il Sorpasso’ Association and by the ‘Cappella Underground of Trieste’ thanks to the collaboration and support of the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute of Lisbon, MIBACT Cinema Division, Istituto Luce & dell’Anica and important local institutions. The Film Festival will take place in 5 different Portuguese cities simultaneously: Cinema São Jorge, Cinemateca Portuguesa - Museu do Cinema and Cinema UCI – El Corte Inglés in Lisbon as well as Porto, Coimbra, Almada and Setúbal. After the first 5 cities, the film festival will proceed to cover the whole country from North to South – a total of 15 cities before reaching Brazil, Angola and Mozambique. The programme includes a selection of 50 films from Italian contemporary cinema including a tribute to the great masters of Italian cinema of the past. Many film premieres such as “Fai bei sogni” by Marco Bellocchio which opens the festival and “In guerra per amore by Pierfrancesco Diliberto at the close of the festival (April 13th) which he will attend. Six films in the running, a Focus on Naples, a short-film section and the usual ‘Amarcord’ (‘nostalgic revocation’) of the great masters of Italian cinema. A variety of parallel public programmes devoted to children, special guests, which also includes music and Italian food. In Portogallo arrivano anche pellicole pluripremiate come “Perfetti sconosciuti” di Paolo Genovese, “Qualcosa di nuovo” di Cristina Comencini, “La stoffa dei sogni” di Gianfrtanco Cabiddu, “Che vuoi che sia” di Edoardo Leo e “Le confessioni” di Roberto Andò, entrambi presenti alle rispettive proiezioni e, ancora, l’anteprima assoluta “Lasciati andare” di Francesco Amato. GUESTS, TRIBUTES AND EVENTS


Among the guests that will take part in the screenings in Lisbon will be Violante Placido, protagonist of “7 minuti” and the two protagonists of the Gomorra 2 Series Ciro di Marzio played by Marco D’amore and Genny Savastano played by Salvatore Esposito who will take part in the screening of the series now in its third season. The ‘Amarcord’ (‘nostalgic revocation’) section this year is devoted to the great director, Dino Risi with screenings of his “Il Sorpasso”, “I mostri”, “Vedo nudo”, “Poveri ma belli” and many more. Also included in this year’s festival is a tribute to the great Bud Spencer with the film “Lo Chiamavano Trinità” and Dario Argento’s “Suspiria” in a 4k restored version. The “Napolitana” section ventures into cinema, literature, and food of Naples with a screening of “L’amore molesto” by Mario Martone based on Elena Ferrante’s novel from which a few excerpts will be read by local actors. There will also be a concert “Napoli Sentimental” performed by the singer Mísia- known to the Italian public for starring in John Turturro’s “Passione”. Among the other events accompanying the festival, two important appointments to bring Italian cinema closer to Portughese cinema with the participation of specialists, scholars, university docents and a forum especially focused on producers in both countries in the context of the Luso-Italian agreement for the joint development of projects in the field of cinema.
