(April 10, 2017) “The Kiss of Translation”: this is the theme of a conference organized by the Italian Department of the Sidney University with the Italian Institute of Culture to be held by Nicola Gardini (Oxford University) on Wednesday April 12 (17-18.20) at the History Room (Quadrangle Building, Room S223). Gardini will share his experience of translating into Italian the poetry of, among others, W.H. Auden, Ted Hughes and Emily Dickinson, to illuminate the nature of translation as a poetic process. Sonzogni is a Reader in Translation Studies in the School of Languages and Cultures at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. He specializes in the poetry of Eugenio Montale and Seamus Heaney. (Red)
