Art, education and society: Piedmont and Australia

(11 April, 2017) The Education Department of Castello di Rivoli and Cittadellarte- Fondazione Pistoletto will take part in the Arts Learning Festival of Melbourne May 3-7.  The two institutions were selected by the Festival's organising body during a trip in Europe to identify best practices and experiments in education. The announcement was made during a press conference held in Torino sponsored by the Regional Council of Piedmont. The Melbourne Arts Learning Festival was created by Independent schools Victoria to highlight the importance of art in education and art's impact on society. It involves more than 2,000 schools in Victoria, representatives of various institutions, professionals in the cultural field, education as well as the general public.  The festival is accompanied by many programmes open to the public that have been put forth by partners around the world. The Education Department of Castello di Rivoli and Cittadellarte are the protagonists of the festival, proposing a vast and "diffused" programme”. (red)

THE EXHIBITED PROJECTS

The Immigration Museum in Melbourne will host the project "Abi-tanti La moltitudine migrante"; an installation by Castello di Rivoli that proposes a metaphor of humanity in a continent with a rich history of migration that is still relevant today. Another partner museum is the National Gallery International which will host the Education Department with workshops on the "third paradise" by Michelangelo Pistoletto and Cittadellarte along with "Tappeto volante" in the exploration of key themes for the festival as an incubator of cultural and artistic power, as a way to instill new life into communities. The Forum Rebirth format, created by Cittadellarte (8 of them in 2017: New York, Bangkok, Pistoia, and Milan) will also have a special spot in the Arts Learning Festival. More than 100 protagonists of responsible change will come together in Australia for three days to share a joint workshop focused on direct practice in education as a cornerstone in activating the community towards direct and daily effort. It will be accompanied by collective work of Terzo Paradiso open to participants of the forum and the community as a whole.
