Research, renewed the agreement between institutes of Italy and Russia

(April 13, 2017) The Italian National Nuclear Physics Institute (INFN) and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) have renewed the framework agreement for scientific cooperation. The agreement was signed by the President of INFN Fernando Ferroni and the Director of JINR A. Victor Matveev, in the presence of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella. The signing ceremony was attended by Cesare Maria Ragaglini, Ambassador of Italy in Moscow, Pietro Frè, Scientific Attaché of the Embassy, and the Italian delegation with the Vice-Presidents of INFN Antonio Masiero and Antonio Zoccoli and Director of International Relations of INFN Roberto Pellegrini. "What we have renewed in the presence of President Mattarella - explains INFN president Fernando Ferroni - is a collaborative agreement between the INFN and an international institution that has offered to researchers from many countries an important opportunity to speak the common language of physics, and that now lives a stage aimed at the future, an important role for science and the Italian industry ". "And we, especially as Italians can not forget the historical role that this institution has had because JINR is also the laboratory where Bruno Pontecorvo conceived all those ideas that made him one of the major players in last century physica", said Ferroni .

ABOUT / BASES OF THE AGREEMENT

The agreement, renewed for six years (2017-2022), is to be seen within the context of a tradition of broad cooperation, involving both theoretical and experimental, nuclear physics, high energy astroparticle and technological research, and provides forms of collaboration between the two institutes made through exchanges of researchers (both senior, both junior), information, technologies and scientific equipment. In addition, the agreement aims at promoting co-organization of events that can stimulate and facilitate these collaborations, such as scientific workshops, conferences, training schools.
