Gabriele Del Grande, the Italian journalist stopped in Turkey because he was in an area of the country where access is forbidden, is fine. So stated the Foreign Ministry, which said it has received assurances from the Turkish authorities. The Foreign Ministry, in close collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Ankara and the consulate in Izmir, continues to follow the case very carefully in order to facilitate a speedy solution to the case. The Foreign Ministry is also paying all possible assistance to the family of its compatriot, with whom is in constant contact. (17 April 2017)


ABOUT / THE FNSI PETITION

Also according to the Italian National Press Federation "we better remain vigilant and continue to 'illuminate' the Del Grande affair until he’s really  back in Italy." The state general secretary and the president of FNSI, Raffaele Lorusso and Giuseppe Giulietti, noting also that "what serious could happen in Turkey already happened before the election, with the arrest of thousands of opponents and the almost total closure of all not aligned media. In prison remain over 100 reporters waiting for processes entrusted to a judiciary that has already 'suffered a heavy process of purging ".
