(April 18, 2017) The calendar of events includes lectures at the University of Cape Town on Tuesday, April 18, Thursday, April 20, Friday, April 21 and Monday, April 24; "Mike Rossi Trio" on Wednesday, April 19, at 8 PM concert with Mike Rossi (saxophone) and Sibusiso Matsimela (bass) at The Crypt Jazz Club in Cape Town; "Rossi-Zechini Duo" on Thursday April 20 at 8 PM, concert with Mike Rossi (saxophone) at True Italic Osteria del Capo in Cape Town; workshop "DNA of creative effects and synthesizers": Saturday, April 22, 10 AM, with Alistair Andrews, at the Paul Bothner Music Plumstead Superstore in Cape Town. "Alistair Andrews Quartet": Sunday, April 23, 7 PM, the guest of honor at the Kaleidoscope Cafe, Cape Town. "Jam Session": Tuesday, April 25, 8 PM at The Crypt Jazz Club, Cape Town. Maestro Zechini will also attend the fifth edition of SAJE Jazz Festival - South African Association for Jazz Education, to be held in Cape Town from April 28 to 30 2017. The visit of Mo Zechini in South Africa is promoted by the Italian Institute of Culture in Pretoria in collaboration with SAJE- South African Association for Jazz Education.


ABOUT / CAREER


A native of Fermo, in the Marche, Roberto Zechini began playing and studying as a child. He made his first tour at 16, as a young leader of a progressive rock band. He studied jazz guitar with Garrison Fewell of the Berklee College of Music in Boston and Fabio Zeppetella, improvisation techniques with Ramberto Ciammarughi, as well as jazz arrangement at the Conservatory of Fermo. He also holds a degree in Russian language and literature first from Lomonosov University of S. Pietroburgo, then from the University of Macerata. He plays in many international festivals (Italy, Switzerland, Germany, United Kingdom, Austria, Spain, France, Russia, Morocco, Albania, Serbia, Montenegro, South - Africa, etc.). He Directs 'The chitarreto' where he teaches jazz guitar, improvisation and harmony. He teaches jazz guitar, harmony and ensemble music at the Arcevia jazz courses and at the Bettino Padovano in Senigallia.
