(27 April 2017) An extraordinary success for the performance of the "Barber of Seville" in Beirut on 21 April at the Saint Joseph Church of the Jesuits. More than 900 people attended the Italo-Lebanese production of Rossini's work with the Lebanon Philharmonic Orchestra and the Choir of the Antonian University. The orchestra was directed by Toufic Maatouk and organised by the Lebanese National Music Conservatory and the Antonian University of Beirut, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute and the Italian Embassy in Lebanon. THE CAST
The production consisted of an Italian and Lebanese cast. From Italy: Daniele Zanfardino (tenor, Conte d'Almaviva), Francesco Vultaggio (Baritone, Figaro) and Luca Dall'Amico (Bass, Basilio). Opera director and staging by Roberto Catalano and costumes by Maria Ariemme (Sartoria PIPI). The "Barber of Seville" was a great success, thanks to both the Lebanese Symphony Orchestra and to the extraordinary capacity of leading interpreters, as well as the creative and contemporary choreography and stage design nuanced with Charlie Chaplin's body and mime language.
