Beijing 2022: new opportunities for Trentino from the Olympics

(May 17, 2017) An opportunity of great interest, in a country that represents a huge expansion market. Trentino signed a cooperation agreement with China for technology, industrial and know-how transfer, aimed at designing, implementing and managing the works on the Yanqing site and two new ski resorts for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games. The agreement was signed at the Italian Embassy in Beijing by the President of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Ugo Rossi, and by the Vice President of Trentino Development, Fulvio Rigotti: the partners of the agreement are Beijing Enterprise Group, China colossus with many listed companies active in sectors such as construction, gas, renewable energies and major works, and Molin sport, a representative of public investors for the Winter Olympic Games and mandate holder to identify competent partners for designing and planning of equipment and of the necessary works. Trentino can therefore apply its expertise and experience in all areas of interest: design, installation, know-how and training. Trentino development will represent and involve the whole chain of technologies, businesses and its expertise on winter sports. The working outlook focuses on the realization and management of three areas of sky-resort. "We consider this agreement a first important step to enhance Trentino both on the economic and technological level and on the attractiveness of the new Chinese tourists - emphasizes Rossi. It should be borne in mind that bringing our expertise to the Winter Olympics of 2022 also means showing what Trentino can do in this filed in a country where, over the next 10 years, 12 million new skiers are expected, some of which Potential tourists. ABOUT / THE MISSION

The agreement also recognizes Trentino Development as coordinator and leader of Alpine skiing competences in the field of technologies and winter-related industry and is committed to drafting a technical document aimed at identifying the main areas of collaboration and the involvement of the Trentino companies and the European Alpine Archipelago in relation to this task. The mission took place during Beijing's One belt, on-road summit, featuring 29 heads of state and government, multilateral institutions and businesses from all over the world, and the presence of Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni accompanied by Under Secretary of International Trade and Investment Ivan Scalfarotto.
