Exhibitions, the shots of Davide Tranchina at the discovery of the island of Montecristo

(May 19, 2017) Montecristo is one of the most wild and inaccessible Italian islands, located in the Tyrrhenian Sea and part of the Tuscan archipelago. With the photographic exhibition titled "40 days and 40 nights at Montecristo", Davide Tranchina reveals a land so enigmatic and fascinating: the exhibition, curated by Irene Campolmi and Luca Panaro, will be inaugurated on June 3rd in Copenhagen, at the Ambassador of Italy residence and it will remain open to the public until June 11. The photographic series is the result of a metaphysical reading of the island by Tranchina: the images were captured in 40 days in search of ancestral forms and in 40 nights of starry skies, where reality is recreated artificially in the dark room. The artist's search aims at the representation of visual fragments deposited in the observer's retina, in which the perception of the physical landscape fuses with the inner visions of the individual. The inauguration will be welcomed by Stefano Queirolo Palmas, Ambassador of Italy in Denmark and the introduction of the exhibition by the curators at 5.30 pm. The exhibition is included in the calendar of the Copenhagen Photo Festival and on occasion the Residence will also host the works of Lia Ronchi, the young Italian photographer who is the winner of the Residenza d'Artista for young photographers. Lia Ronchi has been selected by an international jury as under 35 photographer of the Residency at the Italian Embassy in Denmark in May-June 2017. In recent months, Lia has explored the interplay between image, language and abstraction. His project analyzes photography as a way to tell stories or recall memories without using representative images with explicit references. In her work, Lia encodes a language that is a plot of time, culture and contextualization, linking each graphic sign to a specific context. (PO / Red)
