"LEA" BY MARCO TULLIO GIORDANA

"Lea", starring Vanessa Scalera, Linda Caridi, Alessio Praticò, and Mauro Conte, is the true story of two courageous women: Lea Garofalo, a justice collaborating witness who was killed by the 'Ndrangheta, and her daughter Denise, who had the strength to testify against her father and who still lives witness under protection today. It all began in 2002, when Lea Garofalo decided to testify about the feud between her family and that of her former companion, Carlo Cosco. In 2009 when Lea was suspended by the witness security programme, she disappeared from Milan without a trace. Her daughter, still a minor at the time, had the courage to testify against her father. The evidence was in her favour when a "pentito" (repented) revealed where the body was hidden. Carlo Cosco and his accomplices were sentenced to life imprisonment.
