The great Italian cinema at the IIc with the projection of

(May 23, 2017) Bruno Cortona, an extroverted and superficial forty-year-old, casually meets in an August emptied Rome, the frightened and scholarly student, Roberto Mariani, and convinces him to join him for a car ride. Two very different temperaments, the young man feels for his occasional companion a mixture of repulsion and attraction. It's the story of "Il Sorpasso", the 1962 film directed by Dino Risi. Perhaps the masterpiece of the Italian comedy of the economic boom, it is a perfect portrait full of allegorical power. The film, generally regarded as the masterpiece of the filmmaker, is now being presented at the Italian Institute of Culture in Bratislava with subtitles in Slovak. The projection - organized by the IIC in Bratislava in collaboration with Divadlo Aréna, Cineteca di Bologna, Surf film, Min - is on Tuesday June 6 at 7PM. A great Gassman, the unforgettable wandering of the two, suspended between hilarious moments and other tragic events, the film helps to discover and understand the Italy of the '60s (and not only).
