ABOUT / THE FOUR WINNERS

Virginia Bacchereti, a graduate of Biomedical Engineering, has been selected for the project "Medical devices for cool therapy". The idea consists of post-traumatic and post-surgical therapy devices, consisting of an adjustable band of breathing and hypoallergenic tissue inside which are previously fitted solidified cooling elements. These devices are provided for different anatomic parts (shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee and ankle, etc.). Pietro Carra and Elisa Ferrari, Ph.D., have won with their project "Smart panopticon", which proposes the creation of video surveillance systems based on neural networks obtained through automatic learning algorithms implemented through the Array Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) . These algorithms have now reached very high performances, enabling the implementation of surveillance systems capable of recognizing risk behaviors based on images taken by security cameras. Such a designed video surveillance system is aimed at companies interested in increasing security, public administrations, as well as private citizens and anyone who needs to oversee large areas. Gianluca Biggi, a graduate of Economics, presented the project Pagoinlire.it, an integrated monetary circuit, a community of companies, people and public entities based on a complementary currency: Lire credits. Through the circuit, purchases are rewarded with the offering of their own products or services, allowing savings in cash and reducing financial burdens. The circuit platform offers, in addition to traditional home banking for displaying its balance in Credits, the ability to make payments via SMS, Mobile App and special APIs, with which you can place payment in Credits in your E-commerce. The platform also provides a marketplace through which to research activities that accept credits as payment and publish sales deals. Anita Nari, Ph.D., was selected for the "Innovative sprays to the aromas of the Earth" project. The idea is to create sprays that transform particular foods into a foamy product to propose a new range of quality Salty and sweet dressings, through a small container that can instantly whip a liquid and get a foamy compound to launch on the international market thanks to its comfort and strength. Though it is a technology already well-known on the market, the innovation is in the proposed application.
