New Italian Cinema ", hosted at Casula Powerhouse Arts Center, the dramatic comedy "It Was the Son "by Daniele Ciprì, taken from the homonymous novel by Sicilian writer Roberto Alajmo. The appointment is Thursday, June 8, starting at 7.30 pm. The festival has been opened by "La vera leggenda di Tony Vilar", a "mokumentary" in which elements of reality generate invented moments, directed by Giuseppe Gagliardi. Thanks to a careful choice of contemporary Italian features, "Beyond classics. New Italian Cinema "will allow viewers to "watch" an Italy featured on the big screen through the ironic, sensitive and historical look of some of the greatest contemporary directors such as Mario Martone, Daniele Ciprì, Giuseppe Gagliardi, Gianni Amelio And Carlo Mazzacurati. ABOUT / THE FILM

"It Was the Son" by Daniele Ciprì (2012) tells the story of the Ciraulo family in Palermo. The grotesque reality in which the family lives, turns into a desperate tragedy. The Ciraulos have sought to fill the void left by a serious loss through the purchase of a material good, which will prove to be a bearer of further misfortune. Nicola (Toni Servillo), the head of the family, represents the atavistic hunger of modern man, moved by the desire to quench immediate satisfaction, at the cost of condemning his offspring.
