Collaboration between Italy and Cameroon on Human Rights continues

(2 June 2017) Human rights education is one of the many strengths of the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies of Pisa: the activities carried out in Cameroon for updating of judges and magistrates working in the country. From June 5th to 7th, a new course promoted in collaboration with the Cameroon Ministry of Justice will be held in Yaoundé and will be hosted by Enam (Ecole Nationale de Administration et de Magistrature). This course is the second part of the one held in February at Sant'Anna in Pisa. During the new phase of this project coordinated by Andrea de Guttry, international public law professor and director of the Dirpolis Institute (Law, Politics, Development); twenty-five judges and magistrates selected by the Cameroonian Ministry of Justice, and five young students selected by Enam will attend a "training of trainers" course. THE PROGRAMME

The programme consists of three days of teaching and is aimed at transforming students into a group of teachers who will become co-educators on international human rights standards and, in particular, those applicable to the judicial administration of Cameroon. The lessons will be held by Andrea de Guttry and a Cameroonian University docent. It will also provide useful skills for designing, creating, and evaluating training methodologies and tools needed to facilitate learning and acquisition of methods and strategies through active teaching techniques. "This new training project highlights the excellent results of technical cooperation between Italy and Cameroon and highlights the results of Sant'Anna in the design and management of these activities" comments de Guttry.
