Music Festival: Maria Teresa Lonetti at the IIC

(5 June 2017) On the occasion of the Music Festival, on 21 June, Maria Teresa Lonetti will perform in concert with her band in Barcelona, at the Piazza Italia at the Italian Institute of Culture (18:00). In addition to Lonetti (vocals and guitar), the band is composed of Massimo Spadotto (bass), Fiorenzo Fuscaldi (percussion) and Flavio Spotti (frame tambourines). The Calabrian singer, Maria Teresa Lonetti, tells her story, her memories and her land through music. She likes to experiment and combine music and words, sharing traditions and the tie with her beloved South through songs in Italian and 'melissese' dialect (Melissa is the small village on the Ionian coast of Calabria). The artist won the "Manente 2015 Award" with the song "Terra d'acqua e Focu", which the jury described as: "A tribute to Calabria, its beauties, its stories and the unrest that characterise it and belong to her children. A story of being a part of it and out. A beautiful voice able to stir up deep feelings with the warmth and passion of femininity". (Red)

THE MUSIC FESTIVAL

The music festival is a popular event that is held every June 21st to celebrate the summer solstice. Beginning in France in 1982, the Fête de la Musique promoted by the Ministry of Culture invited all musicians, professionals, and amateurs to play in the streets of the cities every year. Later, the festival expanded outside France.
