Dante's language conquers Florida: The Italian Studies Board at the University of Miami

(13 June 2017) The University of Miami is increasingly focusing on the Italian language. The College of Art and Sciences is setting up the Italian Studies Board within its Department of Modern Language and Literature. It is formed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mario Giro; Senator Stefania Giannini (former Minister of Education); Senior Associate Dean of the College, Professor Maria Galli Stampino; former CEO of Performance Executive Search Executive and medievalist, Dabney Park. Giovanni Francesco Accolla, a professor at the University of Miami, will lead the development of the project. "The board was born with the intent of reinforcing the already lively academic and cultural relations between the University of Miami and some Italian universities through an accurate programme of cultural exchanges between students and teachers, the visiting professor programme, conference cycles and targeted joint initiatives".
