Young Women in Technology: a student from Bari at the World Bank

(15 June 2017) From Bari to the United States of America for a very prestigious and educational experience. Sara Zendoli, a young graduate from the Department of Informatics of the Aldo Moro University of Bari, has already packed her suitcases for Washington. Zendoli selected under the "Young Women in Technology" programme promoted by the Department of Computer Science (Information Technology Systems). The aim of the programme - aimed at 10 people - is to offer university students of science background the opportunity to work in a large multilateral organisation, such as the World Bank consisting of 15,000 staff members scattered throughout the world. During her 6-8-week internship, Sara will have the opportunity to meet with international work teams and will be accompanied by a mentor who guide her in her specific training project. Her task as a data / information specialist will be to calibrate search algorithms for web information and other sources of information, including advanced information on machine learning and information retrieval. The calibration will require a test phase and a performance evaluation of the techniques used. It is an important commitment, but Sara is ready: she has already dealt with these issues during her course. (Red)
