Presentation of

(23 June 2017) The Italian Free Colony of Schaffhausen, a town in Northern Switzerland, the capital of the canton of Schaffhausen (Birchweg 75) hosts the author Giusepe Pietramale tomorrow afternoon at 16:00 who will present his book titled "Ci avete condannati innocenti" (You Have Sentenced us Innocent) (European Polygraphic Institute Publishing, April 2016, the quaderni of ANPI Sicilia series), as communicated by the Italian Institute of Culture of Zurich. The event, introduced by the author Raffaele De Rosa, is promoted by the Schaffhausen Italian reading group. Pietramale, through his grandfather's memories, recounts the still relevant opinions, feelings, and passions of a controversial historical period. (Red)

THE BOOK

"The testimony of a legacy of memory, from a grandfather [Giuseppe Pietramale] farmer and 'fighter' in his own way in Sicily to his nephew [also named Giuseppe]. An oral history 'document' or better said, 'ethnographic histroy', a sort of 'diary' in which the fragmented (and possibly inconsistent) story of the original author is intertwined and merges with an additional narrative used by the final curator. [..] In a special 'partisan season', 'heroically' perceived and interpreted by militants in action; the figure of Pio La Torre, a communist leader who, as we all know, would become a hero a few years later, and who was imprisoned with grandfather Pietramale".
