Bosnia: Italy establishes an electric power plant. Inauguration attended by the Italian Ambassador Minasi

(26 June 2017) Italian Ambassador to Sarajevo, Nicola Minasi, took part in the inauguration of the hydroelectric power plant in Teslic, in the Srpska Republic. The plant was established by the Italian Group “SOL di Monza” established in 2001 in Bosnia Herzegovina – which has employed approximately 40 new people. The event received local media coverage and several institutional authorities of the Srpska Republic, in particular the Vice Prime Minister and the Minister for the Environment, Petar Djokic, along with the Mayor of Teslic Milan Miličević. In his opening remarks, Ambassador Minasi highlighted that the construction of the plant which will offer clean energy capable of reaching 700 homes, offers an example of the potential that a collaboration between Italian and Bosnian businesses can bring, in particular, in the environmental sector, that the Italian government is actively supporting. BILATERAL RELATIONS

Among the first members of the international community to have established diplomatic relations with Bosnia Herzegovina in 1996, Italy supports and foments Bosnia’s Euro-Atlantic integration into the main international forums and bilateral relations. Italy is Bosnia’s second commercial partner with an exchange of more than €1.5 billion, and its primary banking investor – with Unicredit and Banca Intesa SanPaolo – as well as its primary cultural partner, also thank to the ratification of the 2015 bilateral agreement in cultural cooperation.
