Latina wines meet the World and win over Spurrier

(July 21, 2017) Southern Lazio wines, surprisingly, win over the English magazine Decanter. It all happened in Barolo, a country that besides giving its name to one of the most valuable red vines of Piedmont and the whole Italy, also hosts the Progetto Vino of Collisioni Festival. On this occasion, on July 17, a professional tasting was held by Steven Spurrier, symbol of Decanter magazine, along with Levi Dalton, American journalist author of the renowned "I'll Drink to That" podcast blog, and journalist Fabio Ciarla, who took the part of Lazio wines ambassador being at Collisioni for the fourth year in a row. Indigenous vineyards in the southern Lazio area like Bellone, Malvasia and Moscato di Terracina (but also Grechetto and Malvasia Puntinata) are protagonists for the whites while the reds features Nero Buono and Cesanese. Invited and supporters of the idea, all seven companies of the Strada, who are present at their disposal to recount their wines: Cantina Sant'Andrea, Cantina Villa Gianna, Marco Carpineti, Casale del Giglio, Cincinnato, Donato Giangirolami, Pietra Pinta. And Spurrier has been so overtaken by these producers in the province of Latina that he promised: "I will soon come visit you."

In the meeting dedicated to the wines of the Province of Latina there were guests coming from the United States and Canada, fortunately, since they still are two of the most important markets for Italian exports, followed by Russia, Australia, England and the Philippines. The tasting was preceded by a beautiful video created by "9cento" Agency that presented the territory, its landscaping and historical heritage, so as to emotionally approach the audience in an area of Italy for many of them unknown.
