Protection and promotion of cultural heritage strengthens Italy-Bosnia collaboration

(July 28, 2017) The partnership between Italy and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the field of the protection and promotion of cultural heritage is further enriched. The mission in Sarajevo was completed by a delegation from the Institute for Conservation and Restoration (ISCR) in Rome, led by architect Donatella Cavezzali, director of the ISCR School of Higher Education, which completed the second Phase of the project of collaboration with the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina financed by Italy. The partnership, launched in 2015 on the impetus of the Embassy in the framework of the Bilateral Co-operation Agreement on Culture, Education and Sport, has allowed the establishment of the first Bosnia and Herzegovina Conservation and Restoration Center opened in June 2016 and the the creation of a new Department for the Conservation of the National Museum of BiH. The second phase of the project of collaboration with the ICR, just completed, has planned the organization of specialized training courses in conservation and restoration by Italian experts dedicated to timber collections of the Museum, in addition to those made in the first phase on metal finds, as well as the supply of equipment to complete the laboratory, the heart of the new Department of the Museum. Furthermore, during the next semester, as a follow-up of the agreements between SS. Cesaro and Minister Osmanovic, the Embassy will organize seminars on the management and enhancement of cultural heritage open to industry professionals in Bosnia and Herzegovina. (Red)
