(July 28, 2017) There’s time until August 27 to visit in Madrid "Registros de tránsito solar": a project by Rosa Barba. Born in Agrigento, 1972, she is an artist who lives and works in Berlin. Winner of numerous awards and present in international exhibitions, she made film her means of expression: her films, installations and sculptures have won numerous awards, most of them at various film festivals. "As part of the new proposals of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Italian Cultural Institute of Madrid – as written on the website of the IIc - collaborates on the presentation of the latest project by the Italian artist Rosa Barba, Registros de tránsito Solar, which will be hosted until August 27 at the Madrid Palacio de Cristal Parque del Retiro. " Before the special project exhibited in Madrid, Rosa Barba presented in Milan the personal exhibition (set up in the Shed space of Pirelli HangarBicocca) entitled "From Source to Poem to Rhythm to Reader": an exhibition project that collects fourteen works from 2009 Nowadays, between 35mm and 16mm film, kinetic sculptures and site specific interventions. ABOUT / THE ARTIST

Rosa Barba studied at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne and at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. She has participated in several international exhibitions, including three editions of the Venice Biennial (2015, 2009, 2007), the Sao Paolo Biennial (2016), the Sydney and Berlin Biennial (2014) and the Liverpool Biennial (2010). In the spring of 2016, the MoMA PS1 in New York dedicated to her a special evening of screenings and performances. For years Barba pursued a research and experimentation work that runs through the film and sculptural language.
