(31 July 2017) In the framework of the exhibition "Venice of the Renaissance: Tiziano, Tintoretto, Veronese", open to the public until August 20 at the museum of the figurative arts "AS Puškin" in Moscow, on August 3 at 7PM it will be presented the book "The Metaphysics of Venice" by the art historian Gleb Smirnov. The evening will be held at the Musejon Centre of the A.S. Puškin Museum in the presence of the author, director Boris Jukhananov, political scientist Stanislav Belkovskij, poet Grigorij Kuzhkov and Olga Strada, director of the Italian Cultural Institute of Moscow. Smirnov's book, published thanks to the contribution of Banca Intesa and the Italian Cultural Institute, is a treatise on the interior landscape of Venice. The book covers concepts that make up the city's "genius loci": melancholy, hedonism, fragility of the world, eroticism, immortality. The author of the book has settled in Venice many years ago, where he lives in creative isolation giving birth to tales, philosophical treatises and fairy tales. (Red)

ABOUT / THE EXHIBITION

The exhibition "Venice of the Renaissance: Tiziano, Tintoretto, Veronese" highlights both the different interpretations of religious and mythological subjects, handled through the keys of sensuality and color, and the portraiture of the three masters, and constitutes a unique opportunity to compare some of their greatest masterpieces. The exhibition also aims at questioning the assumption of the alleged rivalry between these artists, attempting instead to highlight through a comparative method the similarities and peculiarities of each person's style and language, and by inserting their activity into the correct historical, social and economic coordinates.
