Books and Nature, meeting with Paolo Cognetti at the House of Literature

(July 31, 2017) The mountain is not just snow and cliffs, ridges, streams, lakes, pastures. The mountain is a way of life. One step ahead of the other, silence, time and measure. Paolo Cognetti knows that very well, and between a peak and a hut he envelops the novel "The Eight Mountains", winner of the Premio Strega 2017. A story of friendship between two boys - and then two men - so different that they look alike, an adventurous and spiritual journey made of escapes and attempts to return, in the constant search for a way to recognize themselves. On August 15 at 7PM at the Oslo Literature House Paolo Cognetti will meet with authors Lars Mytting and Erling Kagge in a conversation about the experience of writing about nature, their relationship with the mountains and their feelings. The fact that "The Eight Mountains" has imediately become a literary case is shown by the passionate competition between publishers interested in publishing the book all over the world. The novel was also of great interest to the Frankfurt fair and is being translated into 30 countries. Norwegian translation is edited by Tommy Watz, published by Kagge, who organizes the evening in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Culture of Oslo. Lars Mytting is the author of "Norwegian Wood" ("Hel ved") and "Svøm med dem som drunker", winner of Bokhandlerprisen. Erling Kagge is publisher, explorer and author of “Stillhet i støyens tid” (2016), already sold in 34 countries. (Red)
