From Aiuto alla Chiesa a contribution to the victims of Boko Haram

(August 1, 2017) The territory of the diocese of Maiduguri, Nigeria, covers almost entirely three of the states most affected by the violence of Boko Haram: Borno, Yobe and Adamawa. Bishop Monsignor Oliver Dashe Doeme tells of at least 5,000 women left widowed by the hands of the "African Talibans". The Aiuto alla Chiesa che Soffre association has decided to support them, together with their children, with an extraordinary contribution of 70,000 euros. Monsignor Doeme created for this purpose the association St. Judith widow, to which will go the contribution of ACS. "It is a project aimed at responding to the pressing need of women and mothers of men killed by terrorists," explains ACS-Italy director Alessandro Monteduro, "and at the same time at delivering vital goods to thousands of children orphaned because of Boko Haram, and allowing some of them to continue their studies. Another concrete answer to fundamentalism by ACS." (Red)
