“I walk into the painting, I become the painting”: a show-lab

(August 21, 2017) Celebrating women’s month in South Africa, within the framework of the Vavasati International Women’s Festival the Italian Institute of Culture in Pretoria organizes “I walk into the painting, I become the painting”, the show-laboratory for children, curated by Laura Fiorini, to be held on Saturday August 26 from 12AM to 2PM at the Rehearsal Room 4D at The South African State Theatre in Pretoria. This free show-lab is aimed at children between 10 and 14 years, and has the objective of familiarize children with Italian art and music, while at the same time helping them to develop personal and bodily creativity, acquire security in their creative and propositional skills, use motion as a means of communication with others, and use and organize movement to express, communicate and invent. This activity seeks to integrate, with the use of Italian paintings and music, spontaneity and organization through a different way of doing, observing and inventing "dance": there is no right or wrong movement; every movement is spontaneous and effective creation. Through choreographies of movements drawn by the participants following a background music, everyone will enter the picture assuming the posture of a character, pausing for a few seconds and then returning to the neutral starting position, then returning to a new picture.
