(29 August 2017) The presentation of Federica Marchesini's new book "Afritalian", free event, will take place on September 3rd at 11.30 at the Italian Club of Johannesburg (no. 7 Marais Road Bedfordview). The event was organised by the Italian Club of Johannesburg in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Pretoria and will be held in English. In this book, the author shares her reflections on life and leads the reader through her story in a direct and visual way. "Da un Capo all'altro" is the original Italian title, if Federica Marchesini's first novel. The English version was released in the South African market in March. An Afrikaans version of her novel is in publication and is expected to be released by the end of 2017. The protagonist of this novel, Atena Monti, is a woman who becomes less Italian and increasingly cosmopolitan, and is undertaking a physical, mental, and linguistic journey, from South Africa to Italy, from Italian to South African and vice versa. Atena's journey is the occasion for reflection that is the result of a search of a compromise to appreciate diversity, halfway between stereotypes and one's own habits. (Red)
