Nature immaginate, illustrated meeting with prof. Bucchi

(29 agosto 2017) Many images have achieved the status of visual convention in the areas, for example, of human evolution or the structure of the atom. Massimiano Bucchi and Elena Canadelli’s Nature immaginate is a collection of images whose visual dimension has had a significant impact on the wider social and cultural conceptions and perceptions of the natural world. The text will be illustrated during a conference promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute in Dublin on August 31 (18.30-20). Professor Massimiano Bucchi (Università di Trento) will retrace the story of each image and document its social and cultural impact through the mediums of painting, cinema, comics and advertising. ABOUT / THE IIC

The Italian Cultural Institute in Ireland was established in 1954. It is situated in an early nineteenth century Georgian building in the centre of Dublin, in Fitzwilliam Square, architecturally one of the most 'historic' and interesting squares in the city, facing a beautiful private park. The building, part of the Irish Cultural Heritage, was purchased by the Italian Government in 1974. In 1987 a substantial restoration was undertaken, maintaining the original structures and enhancing those particular interior features which characterise it as one of the best preserved Georgian buildings in Dublin.
