Theater, music, reflections: an evening dedicated to Pirandello

(August 31, 2017) In the 150th anniversary of the birth of Luigi Pirandello, the Italian Cultural Institute of Stockholm paid homage to the great playwright, awarded in Stockholm in 1934 with the Nobel Prize for Literature, hosting the initiative of the Pirandello Stable Festival , A pirandellian festival held annually in Agrigento and now at its XVI edition. During the evening - scheduled from  September 6 at 7pm at the IIC headquarters - different moments will alternate: from the presentation of some excerpts of pirandellian works by actors Giugiù Gramaglia and Maria Grazia Castellana (monologues from La Verità and Vestire gli Ignudi) to some songs related to Pirandellian work proposed by folksinger Antonio Zarcone passing through moments of reflection on some of the themes that characterize the thought of Pirandello proposed by prof. Dario Costantino. In addition, the evening will see the screening of a video document - Scandinavian culture and Pirandello by Mario Gaziano and Andrea Cassaro (in English) - to discover a less-investigated aspect of Pirandello's work, namely the assonances and points of contact between his poetry and that of Ibsen, Strindberg and even that of Ingmar Bergman. The evening - in Italian and English - is organized by the Italian Cultural Institute of Stockholm, in collaboration with the Stable Festival and the Italian Embassy in Sweden. (Red)
