THE IIC

Established in 1984 as a part of the Italian Institute of Culture of San Francisco, the Italian Institute of Culture of Los Angeles operated for nine years as a Cultural Office within the Consulate General of Italy, located at 12400 Wilshire Blvd. The Institute achieved autonomy in 1993, the year in which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs acquired its current headquarters at 1023 on Hilgard Avenue.  The building, designed in the 1960s by Robert E. Alexander, partner of Richard Neutra, previously hosted the International Student Centre at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA).
