The Italian Institute of Culture at Design Week

(15 September 2017) The Italian Institute of Culture of Tirana will participate in the Tirana Design Week organised by the Polis University of Tirana (September 18th – October 2nd) with a conference held by Professor Francesco Zurlo from the Polytechnic University of Milan today at 11:00 at the Polis University. The title of the conference is “Design as a new instrument for transformation”. The conference inaugurates the TDW which is dedicated, this year, to “Design for an inclusive future”. Design can be considered an instrument for transformation capable of creating new project “objectives”. The terms “design thinking” and “strategic design” indicate a new area of design that has extended its research scope to the social, education, and politics sector. A designer thus becomes the engine of the dialogue in the context of communities, he elicits creativity from local groups and individuals, facilitates the the dialogue between connoisseurs, and projects sustainable future scenarios. Today, design acts as a social innovator. It suggests activities that increase participation of weaker members of society and those with lower incomes. It humanises the inclusion of new technologies in the urban fabric such as mobility, connected cities, open data, advanced and local productivity, the digital transformation to accelerate and promote economic and social change.
