Baroque music, the Accademia Bizantina at the

(19 September 2017) The Accademia Bizantina was born in Ravenna in 1983 and is one of Baroque music ensembles with the most famous antique instruments and accredited in the international scene. The Accademia will perform in Czech Republic at a concert scheduled on Thursday, October 26 at 7.30 pm in the Besední dům Palace in Brno, within the 46th edition of the "Autunno Moravo" festival. Under the direction of maestro Ottavio Dantone (cymbal, organ) and soloist Delphine Galou (contralto) will be performed works by Giovanni Lorenzo Gregori, Niccolò Jommelli, Arcangelo Corelli, Niccolò Porpora, Antonio Caldara, Antonio Vivaldi and Francesco M. Geminiani. The concert is held with the patronage of the Italian Embassy in Prague and the Italian Cultural Institute. The ensemble performs in concert halls and in the most prestigious international festivals. The numerous recordings for Decca, Harmonia Mundi and Naïve received several awards by Diapason d'Or, the Midem and a Grammy Music Award nomination for "Purcell - O Solitude" with Andreas Scholl. Particularly significant were collaborations with violinists Viktoria Mullova and Giuliano Carmignola and countertenor Andreas Scholl, which led to major international tours and recordings for Onyx, Deutsche Grammophon, Harmonia Mundi and Decca. THE CARD / CONTRIBUTIONS

Many of the prominent personalities of the music world who have supported the formation and growth of the Accademia Bizantina: Jorg Demus, Carlo Chiarappa, Riccardo Muti and Luciano Berio. Over the years it got the artistic contribution of experienced and gifted musicians, such as the violinist Stefano Montanari, who for over twenty years has been an integral part of the group. All this allowed the Ensemble to specialize in the performance of the musical repertoire of the XVII, XVIII and XIX centuries by playing on original instruments.
