A tribute to Rossellini with

(September 26th, 2017) Fifty years after his death in Rome on June 3rd, 1977, Zurich pays a tribute to Roberto Rossellini, one of the greatest Italian film directors, with the screening of the film "Rome City Open". The 1945 film starring Anna Magnani in one of her most famous roles, and Aldo Fabrizi is considered one of the most famous and representative works of Italian cinematic neorealism. This is the film that brought Magnani, co-starring along with Fabrizi, international recognition. The website of the Italian Institute of Culture of Zurich communicates that the event will take place at 20:00 this evening at the Schlossinko, Fischmarktstr. 4, Rapperswil. (Red)

ANNA MAGNANI "RELIVES" IN ROME

The exhibition "Anna Magnani, life and cinema" will be on view until October 22nd, at Sala Zanardelli del Vittoriano. It is a cultural journey through photographs, never-before released audio and video materials that trace the actress's career from her start in theatre and revues to her success in Cinecittà and Hollywood. The exhibition was curated by Mario Sesti, director, journalist, and film critic who, for the occasion, benefits from the collaboration of the National Film Archive and Experimental Cinematography Centre of Istituto Luce which have rendered their photographic archives accessible to the public. The exhibition retraces, on the one hand, the actress's role in the film "Rome Open City" and "Bellissima" with the digital reprisal of photos taken from film or sets. On the other hand, it maps her presence in the social and cultural life of the time with vast photojournalistic material.
