The Italian-Latin American Dream: An exhibition at the United Nations Building

(September 27th, 2017) “The relaunch of the IILA, extremely popular in Italy, propels this International organisation into a new perspective for repositioning itself as a support instrument for the European-Latin American dialogue, offering a privileged space for meeting and dialoguing with countries in the region in full harmony with the new current marked by the relations with the subcontinent with the European Commission starting from the renewed attention for this area by the High Representative for Foreign Policy, Federica Mogherini. The IILA, which since 1971, has established relations with the European Commission, presents itself as a key player in this partnership”. This was stated by the Secretary General of IILA, Donato Di Santo for the inauguration of the exhibition “IILA, an Italian-Latin American Dream” at the New York United Nations building in the background to the ongoing UN General Assembly. The documentary exhibition, marking the 50th anniversary of the UN, is currently on view also in Rome at the Sala della Lupa in Palazzo Montecitorio until October 4th and was awarded the Medal of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella.

THE EXHIBITION

The exhibition offers the public a precious moment of discovery of the history between Italy and Latin America, showcasing never-before seen photographs and an interesting perspective on the future role of Italy, who through IILA, who can play on such a strategic scenario, presenting itself as the “bridge between European and Latin America” in the words of President Mattarella.
