(October 26, 2017)   The UNIDO programme: "Growth of supply chains and financial services for inclusive economic growth" officially launched in the eastern state of Kassala. The agreement signed yesterday between the Italian Embassy, UNIDO Sudan, the Italian Cooperation AICS Khartoum, in the presence of the Sudanese Ministers for International Cooperation and Industry, launched a three-year 2.25 million Euro project which aims to contribute to the improvement of livelihood and food security of the state of Kassala, in particular that of women and children. "It's not just about development cooperation, but it is a project that aims to give dignity to a multitude of agricultural micro-operators who, through self-sustaining entrepreneurship, will multiply social well-being and balance in important border areas of the country", stated Italian Ambassador to Sudan, Fabrizio Lobasso. The initiative will benefit more than 3,000 beneficiaries, especially small farmers, as well as the most vulnerable members of society for creating public / private partnerships and networking with local civil society bodies engaged in development policies for areas beyond Kassala.
