A series of events regarding Italian dance will begin on Wednesday February 21st at the Italian Institute of Culture of Lisbon. The first event will be José Sasportes' conference "Un'altra storia della danza: la danza italiana" (Another history of dance: Italian dance). Writer and a dance historian, José Sasportes published the first "Storia della Danza in Portogallo" (History of Dance in Portugal) in 1970, and in 2011 he coordinated the publication of the first "Storia della Danza Italiana" (History of Italian Dance) (Edizioni EDT). In 1984, he founded "La Danza Italiana" the first journal dedicated exclusively to the study of Italian dance. He also directs the series "Danza da Leggere" (Reading about Dance) for Aracne publishing house in Rome whose first volumes are dedicated to Salvatore Viganò and Giovanni Coralli.
