A show about female emigration <br> at the end of the 19th century

(19 march 2019) The Italian Cultural Institute of Marseilles, on Friday 22 March at 18:30 hosts a meeting with Nora Picetti at its headquarters who will present the show "Rose from Fear to America", an autobiographical story and female testimony of when the migrants were Europeans. The exhibition, interwoven with music, songs, and folk dances, retraces the stages of the life of Rosa Cassettari, who emigrated to the United States from Italy in the late 1800s. From Cuggiono, a small village of peasants and spinning mills from the Altomilanese, to the mines of Missouri to the multi-ethnic Chicago of the early twentieth century.  An oral autobiography - transcribed by Marie Hall Ets - was published by the University of Minnesota and became a classic in US literature on immigration and the women's movement.
