Art, De Chirico is showcased <br> for the first in Tbilisi

(26 march 2019) Great Italian art in Georgia once again. The commitment of the Italian Embassy continues, in partnership with the Georgian National Museum.  Now on exhibition is "Esoteric De Chirico. Traveler between two worlds". For two months, from March 27th to May 27, a selection of works by Giorgio de Chirico, the father of metaphysical art, will be exhibited for the first time in Tbilisi at the National Dimitri Shevarnadze Gallery. The exhibition, featuring fourteen paintings and a sculpture, proposes a fascinating journey starting in 1923, in the midst of the celebrated metaphysical season, until the seventies, with one of the last paintings by the Maestro. Italian Ambassador Antonio Bartoli, states "with this exhibition we have tried to represent the main artistic and philosophical themes of the enigmatic universe of De Chirico. In the selected works, for the debut of the Pictor Optimus in Tbilisi, lies the story and soul of one of the twentieth-century art giants". The event, organised by the Embassy of Italy and the Georgian National Museum, is the result of a close collaboration with numerous institutions: from the Italian side, the Ministry of Affairs, with its programe "VivereALL'italiana" and, from the Georgian side, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports. The exhibition, curated by the art historian Maurizio Vanni, is produced in collaboration with the Metamorfosi Cultural Association.
