On Sunday afternoon there were clashes on the highway between ultras of Rome and Naples, with strong discomfort also for the circulation. According to the Police Headquarters of Arezzo, around 1.30 pm on Sunday, about 350 Napoli fans heading to Genoa for the Sampdoria-Napoli championship match stopped in the Badia al Pino service area heading north, the same one where in 2007 Lazio ultras Gabriele Sandri died, clashing with Roma fans who on the same road went to Milan for the Milan-Rome match in the evening. Roma fans in transit, who were most likely warned of the presence of the Neapolitans, slowed the march until they stopped at the parking area while a part of the Napoli fans positioned along the fence began a dense throw of blunt objects towards the cars on the roadway. In a few moments both groups moved toward the exit of the autogrill and came into contact for a few minutes; a Roma fan was injured with a knife and it is in yellow code. After about 15 minutes the Roma fans left, while the Neapolitan fans remained in the service area and were later escorted to Genoa by police personnel. The highway was closed for about 50 minutes heading north. Minister for Sports Andrea Abodi, while condemning the accidents, explained that "there is an abysmal difference between the fans who go to the stadium, home or away, to sing, hug, rejoice or suffer for their team and the criminals who clash in a motorway service station, creating problems for decent people".
